openBIM · IFC 4.3 for infrastructure

My name is Marcin Pszczółka. I help infrastructure teams use IFC 4.3 and openBIM on real projects: roads, rail, bridges and tunnels.

A few words about me

IFC 4.3 has 99 concepts. No infrastructure project needs all of them, but every project needs the right ones. That is my work: I know where each concept fits, by project phase, by role and by contract, and I help teams put the right ones into their openBIM workflow, with AI agents and tools made to measure.

I started with BIM in infrastructure in 2015, with my master’s thesis. Since then I have worked as a railway designer at COWI, as a BIM coordinator at Norconsult on large and small infrastructure projects, and as a product manager and BIM manager at Trimble, where I worked on the IFC 4.3 implementation in Quadri and Novapoint. I also delivered on the E39 Kristiansand-Mandal highway in Norway.

Today I teach and implement IFC 4.3 for infrastructure. I built an IFC 4.3 demo corridor with a road, a bridge, a railway, a tunnel, a river and utilities on one map. It is the base of everything I teach and of every audit I run. Engineers from 26 countries have learned IFC 4.3 with me in the IFC Infrastructure Masterclass.

I am a co-founder of BIM Corner, where I write about BIM in infrastructure: IFC 4.3, model structure, data quality and automation.

Privately, I like travelling, sports and spending time actively with my friends.
