How to handle BIM Coordination issues

How to handle BIM coordination issues like a pro?

In today’s blog post I prepared, I think, one of the best materials about BIM Coordination which I’ve published for the last few months! Here are couple of things that you are going to learn from the recording attached below:

  • Two concepts that help you manage coordination issues,
  • Things, you should pay attention to when prioritizing issues,
  • Issues you should take seriously and which you can ignore,
  • And how to build your clash tests that will correspond to clash priorities.

I’m going to dig into the topic and show you a couple of BIM Coordination issue examples from real projects. Then I will explain how I handle them and why I do it in such a way.

In the video, you are going to find answers not only to the above-mentioned topics, but also tips, how to use the same reasoning in your project.

I put a lot of work into making this video so maybe you could do me a little favor?

Please, help me reach out to others who may benefit from this recording. Maybe someone from your company or project team will find this video helpful (and you even don’t know about it).

Please share this article with others. I appreciate it.

What’s more, Remember that there is a free webinar on February 22nd at 19:00 CET.

This is a very important date for one more reason. In this webinar, I  will open registration for my author online training  “BBC – Become BIM Coordinator”

Are you Interested ?

>>Click on this link NOW and save your seat.<<

Only those who register will get bonus materials which I will send after the live session: mind map, link to retransmission and presentation.

Did you like that post ? Share it with others !

We spend a lot of time and effort creating all of our articles and guides. It would be great if you could take a moment to share this post !

I have lived, breathed and lectured BIM/VDC for almost three decades now, but still find the evolution in the business too sloow.. Please let me see the world reep the values of BIM before I got to the endless sleep.. Heck, I even force my two little boys to model in Revit instead of Minecraft, I know, I am a terrible father.. 🙂

I, because I think your blog is AWESOME and helped me a lot learning BIM concepts and processes!!… and because I think your course would be one of the best available course that is Solibri based which I am really interested in (like you BIM Coordinator Guide). And it is always a good thing learning from someone like you with professional experience, where you find little tips and ideas not available anywhere else 😉 … Best wishes

Hi Ignacy, I would like to receive a free ticket to the BBC course, and I am going to tell you the reason why. I am in the early start of my career where I have worked 2 years as a BIM specialist and 1 year as a BIM coordinator at a contracting firm. Until now, I have worked very independently with BIM and am reaching out to different sources like your training course to extend my knowledge. I am a person that likes to share my knowledge with others and if I win the free ticket, I will make sure that you get a good ROI from the knowledge that I share back with you and the community. Looking forward to learning more from your experience as a BIM coordinator

Hey, as a person that harasses everyone in the office about possibilities of BIM introduction, I could really use extra knowledge to implement it in a company I work for 🙂 With a professional course like this I could be more persuasive and do my little part in introducing BIM in Poland.
Cheers

Because i would love to become a bim coordinator 🙂

I am 2 years after graduation and currently working as a structural and bim lead engineer in cour company. I am becoming to be more and more interested in the latest building trends, processes, their automatization and how to makes things more effective using AI. Moreover i am also becoming to be recognized as the revit guy, that will find workaround for most of our problems 😀

However i would like to focus on more complex tasks, across all departments, not just revit related problems and i do have a strong feeling that bim coordination and bim related tasks are things i want to focus on.

I have almost everything learned thanks to blogs, forums and videos on YT or linkedin…Therefore when i see an opportunity to learn from experts that have experience from countries like norway on a really huge project as Hospital in Stavanger…and they are willing to share their knowledge..I do consider that as a must do task, to take the participation in your course. And if you recieve a certificate after fullfilling all the homeworks..that is just a icing on the cake ! 🙂

I would like to get the free admission beacause I’m vey interested in developing further my BIM coordination knowledge. Although I’ve work in quality control in award winning projects BIM wise I feel that i have much to learn and the BBC trainin would be the best form of doing it.

Thank you.

Hello Ignacy,

Thank you very much for introducing this amazing offer “free admission to the BBC training”. I also emailed you last year asking about the training cost, and I mentioned all my points. BIM is the only thing which makes me excited cause there is lots of new learnings are there everyday, BIM is yet to be fully explored. I am gaining BIM knowledge by myself from internet, by discussing with professionals in Linkedin. By my own passion and interest I have been Professional member of India BIM Association and Organization Affiliate Member of CanBIM, so that I always get information related BIM and I read your blogs often also. I have generated my passion for BIM and I want to pursue my career in this, as I have better understanding about BIM mostly theoretically I want to develop practical side as good as I am theoretically. Your course will be the absolutely right one for my future progress and I believe I really need this training and the offer will help me to take participation in this training without any financial difficulties.

Thank you for understanding my approach based on my need.

Hi Ignacy,
I would be grateful if you would give me this opportunity to get a free ticket to this course. By doing so you will be supporting women in BIM. If am able to get this course for free I would be helping more women who are BIM enthusiasts. I have been following BIM corner articles and learned alot from it especially when I was new to BIM , worth mentioning your articles on IFC and MVD. Am sure your BIM coordinator course will be of highest level just like your article….. I have high hopes of getting in:-)

Привет, Ignacy!

Hey Ignacy!
I am sure that I will not get one of the three free courses, such is my luck. I want to learn everything that a beam coordinator should be able to do, because since the end of last year I started working in my specialty. I really like my work, but so far nothing comes out. I hope that with your courses and my desire I will achieve my goal. For me, this is really important.

Hi Ignacy,
The BBC course sounds like a great source of knowledge about BIM Coordination. Right now, I am in the process of changing my career from the CAD world to the BIM world, and I see a huge value in the materials that you present.

I’ve already learned a lot from your articles, videos and emails, but I think the course will leverage my skills to the “next level”. Looking forward to the start of the BBC Program.

Juan Pablo Vásquez Chavarria

Why I should get a free admission to BBC training?
I tell you the reason: BECAUSE I AM THE BIGGEST FAN OF YOU AND YOUR BIM CORNER PARTNERS

Since November 11, 2020 when you launched your website BECOME BIM COORDINATOR, and I read carefully the agenda’s course twenty modules, I realize this is the kind of certification I need to grow up as BIM Specialist, and become that estrange (in a good way) and innovator professional called “BIM Coordinator”. It’s in my blood, it’s in my genes. I have that kind of wood.

I’m a Civil Engineer from a very little country with a very big heart, peace and democracy, Costa Rica. Like other small countries our economy suffers with the pandemic. In that period of time I study as crazy and get the “Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design” https://www.credly.com/badges/0a788c4b-9cf5-4b00-b772-d18711ef4d71/embedded, because I know the world have changed, and if I want to survived I had to reinvent myself. With your “Practical Guide to start with BIM Coordination” I realized that BIM is much more that modeling and collaboration procedure. BIM is all about processes and much more important: people.

But our history starts before that:
Two year ago, when I was learning Revit and surfing on Internet looking for more information about BIM, I found this amazing web site, BIM CORNER and immediately get registered.
“How to Lead Coordination Meetings in an Effective Way” (Ignacy Lozinsky and Marcin Pszczolca), and the series of articles “Creating a Successful BIM Execution Plan, Part 1 and Part 2”, (Ignacy Lozinsky) and also “Disadvantage of Working as a BIM Coordinator” and “9 Things That Surprised Me About Working as a BIM Coordinator” (Marcin Pszczolka), between others, give me the tools to understand BIM process through BIM Management, and productivity and efficiency is a key aspect for a AEC Company.

Full of conviction I wait the release of the course in February 2021. And then I wait until September 2021, and then to January 2022. All this time I was telling to myself <<Ignacy is an excellent professional, and the delay is because he is looking for excellence, develop this kind of course it’s not easy at all, all he want is the best for the future BIM Coordinator>>  And then, when you chance the date from February 2022 to January 2020, in that precise moment -like I do each two days- I was checking your web site and notice the update

With patience and faith I said to myself: Ignacy finally has done it! BBC course will be a major event for BIM Specialists all around the world like me.
So, that it. This is all I have to say. I appreciate the opportunity to share my history in this post, and I tell you, Ignacy, that for me and my family will be awesome to get one of those three admissions free course tickets.

I’m familiar with one or two things about BIM, but its just the theory I can find online. Now it’s time to get to work! To see some real day to day struggles a BIM Coordinator stumbles across. I’m ambitious young woman, who has just deeped a toe in BIM and course like that can significantly increase my possibilities to implement new technology in the office I am working for. BIM is still not very popular way of managing projects in Poland so it’s quite difficult to become an experienced coordinator. I would really like to become one in the future and your course can highly help me in my career evolution. Thanks for all the work you’ve put in, cheers.

I am really excited about a possibility to learn about BIM Coordination in a structured way. I have worked with BIM in various roles for a little over 3 years, but the role of a BIM Coordinator speaks to me most because I love collaboration and communication between different design fields and project stakeholders.
BIM is a lot about technology, but also about processes and people who are behind the project.
Getting a free spot and seeing your point of view would be great 🙂

I would be thankful if you would give me this opportunity to get a free ticket to the BBC course. I work in a small company in Poland that designs sanitary installations. I mostly design in BIM, but very often I meet people who are skeptical about BIM. I would like to expand my knowledge of bim coordination in order to convince my co-workers and other designers to BIM. I would like to show them with examples what are the advantages of BIM and how much time and money they can gain by using BIM coordination. Thanks to the knowledge I will gain during your course, I will be able to develop my skills gain knowledge that will allow me to develop BIM in my firm and my country.
I’d like to thank you and your colleague for the blog and the knowledge you share with others. You are doing a really great job.

greetings from Poznan 🙂

BIM is my Dream

As a civil engineer I’ve always known
Knowledge is something you must own
Through issues and clashes I go
And it’s the reason of my woe
How to deal with such a task
People around me ask
You are BIM coordinator and so should I
I must win the ticket or my Team will cry

I didn’t know why I would deserve it more then others so I read the comments. Now I think that I don’t deserve it more and suggest to support under-privileged like third world. I will pay myself and hope I can claim the expense back.
Keep up the good work!

I’m from Mexico and the BIM methodology has a slow development and a very low presence in the country, also I’m an Archicad user and I truly believe that BIM it’s not only an architecture software but a methodology with good practices and workflows. I’m very curious and a truly believe that a good mentor/teacher (bim corner) helps to achieve and deliver good projects, thats why I want to become a BIM coordinator.

I’ve been woring as a BIM/CAD drafter for over 5 years now. I always wanted something more. I see the oportunity in BBC. Since I am a mom of 2 kids its not possible for me to quit a job and attend expensive BIM Classes.

Online training like this would give me a perfect opportunity to upgrade my skills and without sucrificing my family time.
Anyway, I would like to thank you Ignacy for your work in helping others understaing BIM.

Because its the NEED of the hour, NEED of the AECO industry, to fully realize the benefits of BIM. To bring clarity and equip ourselves as professionals and to become brand ambassadors of BIM, because everybody knows BIM Coordination just as a job role, but nobody knows what it actually entails and how to do it like a Pro and this is what really matters for successful projects!

I’d like to win to prove that women are able to successfully act BIM Coordinator role. It’s my chance to conquer dream job and have real influence on how the coordination is proceeded.
I’m involved in fascinating projects where I feel l could be engaged in serious tasks and successfully fulfill them. That lets me feel self-satisfied at work. I believe I’ll be capable of solving engineer problems thanks to universal knowledge, which you keep presenting with contagious enthusiasm. Know-how described in articles helped me (definitely not once) solve everyday project problems and I appreciate that it’s extremely useful – not just specific dry examples.
I’d like to promote smart solutions to cooperate smoothly and encourage my colleagues to introduce and take advantage of them.

Ignacy, thank you for promoting BIM as well as sharing your knowledge and expertise. Keep going!
I would like to get free admission because I believe in continuous personal and professional development. Although I was never supported financially by my employers, it didn’t stop me from pursuing a career within the construction sector. It would be great to get appreciated for the effort and hard work.
